Natural participates in the 10th edition of the Journey of Applied Foreign Languages

Written by Natural - 03/dec/2020

Organized by students of “Planning and Organization of International Conferences” at the University of Brasilia (UnB), three members of the Natural team are guest speakers.

The X LEA Journey takes place between 2nd December - 4th December 2020, and is an online event. The event is free of charge, but to ensure your place and certificate of participation, you must register through this link.

Representing Natural, on the second and third day, are Anna Furtado, a linguistics consultant, Ricky Seabra, a Natural English teacher, and Victor Hart, our founder and a teacher at Natural.

On the 2nd December 2020, Anna Furtado teaches the workshop "Reading Methodology and Academic Text Production", at 10am (Brasília time). Besides being a consultant at Natural, Anna is a Language, Lexicon and Terminology teacher on the LEA-MSI course at the University of Brasília. She has a degree in Foreign Languages Applied to Multilingualism and Information Society (LEA-MSI) from the University of Brasilia (UnB) and is taking a European Master’s programme in Technology for Translation and Interpretation - EMTTI, in a joint course between the University of Wolverhampton, University of Malaga and University of New Bulgaria.

On the topic of "Lexicon and its Social Applications", which is happening on 3rd December, between 15h45 and 16h50, Ricky Seabra will present about the "Revitalization of the Kariri Language". Ricky developed a digital dictionary of the indigenous Kariri language, together with Natural, available at: http://linguanaturalis.com/kariri. Ricky holds a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Communication from Parsons School of Design, a Master's Degree in Design Research from Design Academy Eindhoven, and has been director of the Crato Museum and Coordinator of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the city of Crato.

Starting the third day of the event (12/04), Victor Hart opens the day with "Technological Innovations", from 2:15pm to 3:30pm, with his presentation on the "Methodology of multilingual teaching in cyberspace". Victor has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Williams College and a Law degree from the University of Brasilia. In addition to being an auditor at the Federal Audit Court (TCU), he is the founder of the Natural Language Institute and is recognized as an innovator in language teaching.

The idea of Victor Hart's presentation is to present the achievements of Natural, by uniting technology with language study, showing the fundamental role of linguists in the creation and revision of content that, together with the efforts of the Natural developers, feed our SysNatural system. In doing so, it brings lots of benefits for students and teachers, such as optimization of learning, lessons, and revision games that are totally customized with the content introduced during each class, exclusive to each student.

We are very proud to be so well represented. To those who are interested in participating, see you there!
